Coaching youth soccer offers many wonderful benefits. It's a chance to work with children and youth and teach them the "beautiful game". It's a great way to connect with your kids. It's a great way to give back to our community.
Many people contact our club to ask about coaching our Rep teams. For many, the desire is there but sometimes the thought of the amount of time and effort they think they need to put in as Head Coaches scares people away, especially younger and female coaches dealing with school or starting their way in the work world.
Coaching Rep soccer does require commitment and hard work. Anything worthwhile requires us to put in effort and make sacrifices of time and resources, not to mention an emotional commitment. One way to ease into the coaching ranks is to become an Assistant Coach with one of our development (U8-10) or competitive (U11-18) Rep teams.
Many of our Head Coaches are looking for good Assistants who can help train their players. If you have a good knowledge of soccer and are willing to learn the more technical/tactical aspects of the game, why not consider joining our coaching ranks? The club reimburses all our coaches for their coaching certification (Youth 1, Youth 2 and Senior) - half of the costs refunded to you after your first season, the other half after your second season - and provides on-going technical support.
If you're interested in being an Assistant Coach with our community-based club, please contact Tony Ferreira, Director of Competitive Teams, at competitive@etobicokeyouthsoccer
Note: The EYSC especially welcomes female coaching candidates who have a passion to work with our many female players!
