The Etobicoke Youth Soccer Club was formed in 1989 through the amalgamation of the West Mall Soccer Club and Martingrove Soccer Club. These predecessor clubs had been in operation since the mid-1960s. The merger brought together two dynamic groups of volunteers and provided more young people with the opportunity to play soccer with youth of the same ages and similar ability.
In 1989, the new Club had 750 athletes. Since then, the number of players and volunteers in the Club has increased steadily. In 1995, there were 1,900 boys and girls registered with the Club. This year, nearly 4,000 players will play with the Club's Rep, All-Star and House League teams.
Much of this growth is attributed to the dedication of Jack Blasutti, who stepped down as Club President last November after 13 years at the helm, and his wife Deanna Blasutti, has served as Finance Director since the Club's inception. The Club's office was stationed in the Blasutti residence from 1989 until 1994 before being moved to an office. Jack currently serves as the Club's Business Manager.
Jack Blasutti was inducted into the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame in 2006..
The Club's headquarters is now located at: 270 Galaxy Blvd, Etobicoke, ON
